Ode to Running

I've been a runner for about 10 years now.    I don't run races.   I just run for myself and my own mental and physical health.  It all started when a good friend of mine asked me to join a running clinic with her.   I can remember my nervousness in the car as we made our way to our first gathering.   What if I wasn't in shape enough?   What if I couldn't do it?   What if I was the last one in the pack?  What if.....you know how that story goes!   Well, it turns out that I was indeed suited enough for running and I haven't looked back.   I like going in the early morning when most of the world is still asleep.   I like listening to the birds, spotting the wild nocturnal creatures out doing their business.   I like it when people I don't even know say, "oh I know you, you're the runner".    I like the solitude and the chance to ponder and think without interruption.   People ask me about winter running.   Don't my lungs freeze?   Don't I slip?  Isn't it too cold?   The worst part is crawling out of a very warm bed and layering the clothing.   Everything from there is uphill....the brusqueness of the air, the crunch of snow under my feet and the beautiful glow of the early morning brought upon by the brightness of the snow.   This spread in my "Book of Days" celebrates the joys of running.

As someone who has done a bit of running, I can understand your feelings about it. It's a freedom that not many people have a chance to experience. You have continued for 10 yrs and I'm 'stop and start'...depending on my headaches. But when they let me, I love running. And 40 degrees is a nice temp!
Lovely journal page to celebrate your fitness and passion.

Run on..........

I am digging that blueberry you are pairing with that barn red and yellow color scheme. I'm sure I don't have that right, but it's how it hit me. You have to tell what white pen you used to journal with. Is it a Uni-Signo UM-153? Love it all and I'm not even a walker (I need to be). My boobs are too big for running, I'd get my lights punched out once I got to going, lolol. xoxo
