Mixed Media Monday - Frosty

I remember as a child winter days when the snow was gently falling and the sun was shining. The world was sparkly and magical and I couldn't wait to get outside to play in it. I'd dress in layers of clothing, gather up my neighbourhood friends and we would set out to build snowmen and forts, create snow angels roll and throw snowballs until we were too tired or too cold to continue. I remember feeling a sadness that they snow was trampled and less beautiful but exhxilaration at having enjoyed a day in it. This is my entry for the Mixed Media Monday challenge this week.

I enjoyed your childhood memories, so beautifully illustrated, Heather! We had some grand snowstorms in middle Illinois where I grew up. I can remember drifts so high I could walk over fence-tops, and being snowed in, sometimes for 3-4 days before the gigantic snowplow would make it to the country roads. I'm glad I found you in my blog travels, Heather! Merry Christmas!

How beautiful, Heather! Everything you do is always so lovely! I enjoyed your snowy memory--I remember so many days like that, growing up in Ohio--Loved those snowy days! I know what you mean about being sad when it was all trampled...love that first peek of beautiful, untouched and shimmering snow...ahhhhh!

Merry Christmas to you, Heather! Hope it's a lovely week for you and your family!

Beautiful artwork as usual, Heather! Such happy childhood memories. I only have one happy snow memory, but it's pretty special. It's always so hot here at Christmas, but one Christmas, when I was a child, we had a very unseasonal cold snap at Christmas. Although it rarely snows here even in winter - we had a snowfall overnight on Christmas eve, and a light covering of snow on the ground for most of Christmas day. We even got to build a tiny snowman. I can still hear my father singing "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas". Happy Christmas! Diane

Hello my dear Heather! I've missed ya so much! Hope all is well! School is done for a few weeks, so finally have time to create. It was well needed after the stressful move...never moving again, but LOVE my new home! Have no studio...just a table in our unfinished basement...miss my space! Hopefully after the holiday, we will build my studio! Wishing you a VERY merry Christmas and lots of hugs to you!

I have the same memories. I always liked to go sled riding at night.....gliding silently down the hill in the moonlight....falling off the sled at the bottom of the hill and just laying there staring at them velvety blue night sky dappled with sparkly stars. Ah, a happy childhood!
