TGIF Challenge - Women

I was just visiting a good friend I hadn't seen for a long time last night. While we were sitting with soft music playing in the background, candles lit and cups of "Sleepy Time" tea in our hands, we were talking about the women in our lives who aspire to leave a positive mark on the world and how difficult this journey can be for them. That discussion inspired this encaustic collage card. The spell was broken when her children arrived home and flipped on the light declaring, "Why is it so dark in here?" This is my submission for the TGIF challenge this week with the theme of "Women".

What a beautiful woman in this piece...and the elements surrounding her are ideal. I can visualize you and your friend talking, in the dark with your tea -- and I can just imagine children flipping on the lights and "not getting it" how we can sit that way to talk!!! Some of the best conversations are had that way, in candle light -- which I think helps the thoughts flow. And what a dynamic conversation to have!
