I was just asking my Mom when I first became interested in books. She really couldn't remember a time that I wasn't. She told me that I was very careful with my own books and if a playmate deigned to treat one of them roughly they were immediately barred from further contact. So many parents tell me that their children are reluctant to let on that they can read themselves because they are afraid that they will no longer be able to cuddle with a parent and a book before bedtime. Reading to me is truly one of life's greatest pleasures. This is my entry for Mixed Media Monday this week.

Oh wow this is absolutely stunning.
Fantastic design.
I just adore this beautiful collage piece, Heather--you're such an artist!Love the sweet little girls you included in this--just perfect!
I've always loved books and reading too--such a wonderful adventure every time! One of my favorite things in this world is discovering beautiful vintage illustrations in books--what a treasure!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
Your work is just amazing, Heather. I love looking at your creations!
I love your entry, Heather. Like you, I adored books in my childhood...and it never stopped. I still love the smell of books -- the inky smell of new ones and the sort of musty smell of aged ones. They are all a ticket to another time and place, and their magic never ceases to capture me!
Dear Heather,
This piece is absolutely precious!
You are extremely gifted!
Hugs, Cindy
This is a gorgeous piece, Heather. I too was a great lover and respecter of books. It took me a long time to come around to the idea of altered books, LOL! Diane
This is lovely Heather!
Once again you have done a wonderful job with color and texture. Love it!
I love zooming in on your pieces and seeing how beautiful they are.
We are big readers here too. I can't remember a time I didn't have a book on hand and nearly all the kids are readers. The "Boy" comes and goes in reading like his father but we girls are the speed readers around here.
Wonderful images. I love your work! Kristin :)
This is really absolutely stunning.
