Saturday Surprise - Pets

For most of my childhood, we had a dachshund that we called "Toggle". We weren't very savvy about training her. In fact, trying to get her to catch a ball consisted of using and elastic band to tie a piece of cold meat onto the ball, showing it to her then throwing it. She would amble over to it, eat the piece of meat then continue about her business sans ball. Despite the fact that tricks weren't in her repertoire, Toggle was always there for me. I remember heading down to visit her in her basket bed so that I could lay my head on her stomach and have a good cry. She was most sympathetic and comforting and never moved a muscle. This altered tin is my ode to dogs and my entry for this week's Saturday Surprise challenge this week.

Hi Heather - Loved your pet piece. I was most intrigued with the dog tag - I drive through Port Moody, BC, everytime I visit my family! Cheers!

Hey! I recognize that tin! OMG - and how I love it! We all need a pet in our lives and as children they seem to sense our need for their devotion. Lovely (as always)

Oh Heather I know what you speak of! I once had a little dog that sounds like Toggle. His name was Patches and I had him from the time I was in 3rd grade until I was in graduate school! Every stinking picture my mom has of me has that damn dog in it too! I loved him and he loved me!
