Saturday Surprise - Childhood

What do you think of when you hear the word "childhood"? To me, it is days spent totally immersed in imaginary worlds where anything was possible. I remember hours spent with paper dolls and barbie dolls, devouring books under trees in the summer and tucked under a warm blanket in the Winter. China ornaments at my Grandparents' house came alive as I moved them around (careful not to break or chip). I'm continuing to host this week for the Saturday Surprise challenge and I'd love to hear your interpretations of the theme of "Childhood".

Love your work Heather especially the colours. when I think of childhood the word "innocence" comes to mind (I think there is too much pressure from the media these days for kids to grow up!). When I was a child I was forever climbing trees and getting messy. I never liked dolls but was always making stuff..nothings changed then!! ha ha!

What a great take on the imaginative nature of childhood and the playfulness.

I agree with so much of what you did in childhood; I remember many a great afternoon spent playing or climbing trees (especially with a good book) and sitting amongst nature reading. I dreamt I was Laura Ingalls living on the frontier or traveling across the plains. Oh, and paper dolls - weren't they great? Little girls don't seem to have those anymore, and that's sad. You could be so imaginative making outfits for them.
