Mixed Media Monday - Time

I'm trying to figure out why I love altering tins so much. I'm at the point that my fingers tingle when I see one and I immediately head for the gesso to prepare it for altering. I love the process of layering and building up the images one atop the other. I adore the fact that the piece has depth and that 3-D objects can be added. Perhaps I should stop analyzing and just "do". A big thank you to dear Diane from Mixed Media Monday who allowed me to be host this week with the theme of "Time". This tin is on its way to a very dear friend of mine. I wanted to capture the passing of time, how quickly it passes and how often we wish it would just slow down and allow us to catch our breaths.

Beautiful piece, Heather! This one really hits home with me, as I have really been learning how precious time really is lately. So I love the saying you picked for this. I really gravitate toward altered tins too, but have yet to try making one. It's on my list of projects though. And now I own one of yours...thank you again! ~Lori

Your altered tin is just breathtaking, Heather! I would love to know how to do this--I've never done one. Yours are always so beautiful! I'm with you about the passage of time. It flies by way too fast for me . . . one day my oldest was a babe in arms, and, all of a sudden, I realized that he will be 33 this year--it astounds me! Have a great week! Love, Jann

You are an amazing artist, but this has to be the very best (IMO) piece of work I have seen of yours. This is completely and utterly stunning. I am not sure which element I love more. I just wanted you to know, that I am head over heals...with this one. BRAVO...and I know you will do many more.
Love and ~xx~
