I found these library card tag books at Quietfire Designs a little while ago and decided to try altering one. I enjoyed the process so much that I ordered 10 more! They appeal to me for many reasons. First of all, they feature a library pocket which for a librarian is rather nostalgic. Secondly, I can take the tags out and alter them separately. Finally, I enjoy the fact that I can illustrate stanzas of poems, one per page. This poem is called "The Unseen Playmate" by Robert Louis Stevenson. I used lots of layers of stamped tissue paper, scrapbook paper, music score and beeswax for each tag to give it that lovely glow that I find so appealing. This is my entry for this week's TGIF challenge.

This is absolutely adorable Heather! I hope to have time to complete a book this week. There's an award for you on my blog, you SO deserve it! ((HUGS)) - Kris
This is fabulous. What a grand idea.
Love the book and the detail and obvious thought behind all the tags. Awesome.
Heather, what a brilliant project! It's gorgeous!
(Now I know why your comments are so well written -- you are a former librarian!)
Wow! Your book is gorgeous! I love every page that I could see.
I love these, and ordered some library card books for myself.
A word of caution to anyone else who might place an order...the prices are in Canadian dollars. I didn't realize until I connected with Pay Pal. So it ended up costing more than I had thought...not that the prices were bad, but I just wanted to alert people to this. ~Lori

You always have such delightful ideas Heather and these tag books just took my breath away... you turned something so simple into fabulous works of art.
What wonderful keepsakes they will be.

What a gorgeous book !
simply gorgeous!!!
Wow, this book and your tags are so cool, so beautiful. Just awesome, my friend. I love the poem and the images. I love everything about this book.
It reminds me I haven't worked in a book or made a book in a long time. Maybe I should do that again one of these days. After all, altered books are what got me into altered art.
One more thing. I love the new look and feel of your blog.
These are goegeous, and they look so perfectly done and finished Awesome.
Had to smile at your comments, I was a library assistant when I was 16, and after a full and varied career doing other things am back where I started after after nearly 30 years. I still occasionally find a very old book on the shelves with our little pockets in for holding the 'date cards' and it reminds me of sitting at the end of the day putting all the 'loans' in order - I know we are supposed to have progressed technologically, but it seemed a much calmer time - thanks for a little nostalgia!! Must have a go at something like this.
Have to go now, but when I'm here I always regret not getting round more frequently - some truly inspiring work since I last visited, thank you so much for sharing! Cindy
