Craftaway a Sunday - Heritage

A couple of Christmases ago, my parents presented my Sister and I with family tree books, one for each side of our family. We each received two binders filled with information about the people who came before us....photos, stories, tragic tales. I love to just leaf through them because each time I do I discover another interesting tidbit about my heritage. I use the photos in these binders sometimes to create artwork. This piece features a photo of my aunt and my Dad in front of their farmhouse. It is a black and white photograph but I used a little chalk to colour it slightly because I had visited this house and knew that it was red. I added elements using beeswax. This is my entry for this week's Craftaway a Sunday challenge.

Wow what an amazing gift to receive, so much of what makes us who we are gets lost in time! Thanks for sharing this with us in this fabulous piece and for taking part Heather, have a great week! Seona@CAS

From an avid family historian I know how precious these albums are to you.... your use of the images is stunning Heather and I bet when youre creating these pieces you think constantly about the person in the images and how their life was....

Heather, once again you have touched heartstrings with your gorgeous art work. Most of us want to hang onto our heritage. How wonderful of your mother to realize that her girls would want to keep track of their family history. Beautiful job with the beeswax.
