I am quite enamoured with the theme of this week's This Thursday is all about challenge...Art From Your Heart. I can't wait to see all of the personal pieces created for it. This is mine. It is a canvas that was designed for a blog swap hosted by the marvelously talented Marilyn Rock. Marilyn challenged us to create a piece about our childhood. The only stipulations were that it had to have a childhood photo of us and that it had to have a word that expressed our childhoods. This photo was taken of me at a fashion show. In the actual picture I am receiving a flower from a fellow "model" who just happens to be a young boy. When I thought about my childhood what struck me most was that I was cherished. I was the first born on both my mother's and father's sides and every photograph of me from birth to about 3 years shows me with relatives being doted on and loved. The snippet of poetry I hand printed on the piece just captures this sentiment so I dedicate the artwork to all those who surrounded me with love, who cherished me and who took the time to nuture in me a love of life and of nature.

Very personal and a wonderful idea for using yourself in your work...great prompt for that canvas. I love the outfit -- I seem to recall having a few outfits like that myself!! Brings back fond memories and how sweet the boy giving you a flower!!!
