Big Art Adventure - Fabric Arches

I am fascinated .... but intimidated....by fabric. You would never guess that I started my university studies in family studies. I was overwhelmed by the complexity of the sewing that was expected in my courses. I was expected to make blazers and to alter patterns to fit my figure!! Needless to say, I only lasted a year. The sewing machine was relegated to a cupboard and didn't see the light of day until recently when I decided that sewing could be fun and freeing. It didn't have to be an "exact science". This is one of my experiments on the road back to "sewing" and is my entry for this week's Big Art Adventure.

and what a lovely 'experiment' it is Heather. That is one of my all time favorite images! I finally had fun with the sewing machine when I stopped worrying about sewing a straight line, plus adding paper with fabric was very freeing. Your arch is beautiful!!!

I am so happy you decided to dust of that machine, this is beautiful, and I hope to see more of your fabric pieces. I love fabrics, lace, trims and they looks so nice actually stitched on a piece of art :)

This is beautiful! I fully understand what you mean about sewing. I won't sew a loose button onto clothes but I'm quite happy to sew them on to cards and artwork & the same goes for the sewing machine. I wish I hadn't skived off from needlework now!!

I passed my sewing machine onto DGD about 4 yrs ago as I had stopped using it to make clothes... may have to borrow it back for a little while...
I am delighted you got yours back out of the dark and give it some day light as this piece is amazing...but then everything you create is amazing.
love the texture and stitching with a tiny bit of bling.
chriss. have a great weekend xx
