Mixed Media Monday - Stars

My task with these round robin journal pages was to create pieces that showcased women renowned for their beauty and both Grace Kelly and Mary Pickford came to mine. I've read about both of their lives and have long admired them. I wanted to create a soft look that complemented the black and white photos of each. I also decided to use pressed flowers in different ways on both. While the first page was drying, the flowers browned which at first upset me but I decided to leave them because they added to the meaning of "stardom". It isn't just the fancy clothing, the big houses, the whirlwind lifestyle but also the hounding of the media, the broken relationships, the loneliness and often tragedy of very public lives. I thought the poem suited the theme well too. These are my entries for this week's Mixed Media Monday.

Heather I love the idea of using the pressed flowers -- the keepsake of romance and both of these women, in their time, epitomized "romance". In a word these are "graceful".
