When I read the theme of this week's Gothic Arch challenge, I started to think about the different times in our lives and in our relationships captured in photographs. Quite obviously this is a passionate moment portrayed in the gothic arch above. Perhaps the woman has been reading and her beau has unexpectedly surprised her with a kiss.
I love to pore over vintage family photos and am especially intrigued by photographs taken by my paternal grandmother. She just seemed to have an eye for capturing more than one moment in her pictures. The one below is a favourite of mine. She has obviously posed her parents sitting with my aunt and her cousin having a tea party but in the background my grandfather is busy cutting my Dad's hair. I can just envision them all gathered for an afternoon at the farm. The pace is a bit slower on Sundays so this just might be the time for a large lunch, a visit and a quick haircut.

And I love the old family photograph...I have some like this -- it's the simpler life, the easy going time...and many family photos were snapped while people sat around having tea and talking.

Your tale of your family and the picture remind me of my own vintage photos of which I have precious few. But in my mind's camera, I see family reunions with aunts, uncles and cousins I shall see no more. Bittersweet memories, thank you!!
