I just had to join the Layers of Color challenge because its theme is a favourite of mine! My Mom used to always keep buttons in a large mason jar and I would spend hours dumping them out, sorting them, examining them and feeling them. She often laughed when she remembered my fascination and joked that this was one of the cheapest toys that I enjoyed.

Hi Heather...these are wonderful and I love your story of your Mom's Mason Jar....and how you used to spend hours enjoying them...what fun! there is something wonderful about a big jar full of buttons...
My Grammy had a button box filled with wonderful buttons of all colors and sizes that I use to play with too! We must have been simple children! LOL!

Both of these are beautiful, Heather! I love them both!
So glad you are back, did you have a great time? What a sweet story about your Mom's jar. My Grandmother would always let me sew when I went to her house for a visit, I thought that was great. We would make all kinds of things, purses, stuffed animals, pillows etc...Have a great week. Hugs***Renea
Beautiful again!
Beautiful entries, Heather! And your childhood memories add such warmth. It's sew wonderful to have you join us again!
Fabulous entries, Heather! Love them both. I'm glad to see you back!

Both are gorgeous!
Love your botton art pieces. Think we must be from the same generation with stories of button jars/boxes etc. Now I just stop by my local fabric store to visit and to play in their button trunk. They laugh at me and I just say it is my stess reliever.
these are so gorgeous, love them. love your story too, simple times eh!!
Welcome back, Heather! Your new pieces look so wonderful!
These are so sweet! I love them. I recently saw a mason jar full of buttons at an antiques mall, and they were asking $40 for them! I made myself walk away, but I wanted that jar.
Two beautiful pieces! The buttons are such a great embellishment.
Heather, we had similar childhoods!! My mom had all her buttons in an old mayonnaise jar (Bojac it was called!) and that included buttons from my grandmother as well. My sister and I would get that out on a rainy day and "play" with the buttons....and I love what you've done with these buttons..."cute as a button" is one of my favourite expressions!!
I love the little childs and the buttons, so sweet!
He! Heather I used that paper not so long ago on a card and like you decided to cut round the buttons - and then wish I hadn't !! LOL
This is great so cute!
cute as a button is right...fabulous pieces. Buttons are magical!
You've dipped into your button collection and created gorgeous pieces!
Beautiful work, Heather.
