Think Monday, Think ATC - Nostalgia

We often do look back at past times with a sense of longing and a feeling that life was somehow better. The photograph on this artist trading card is of my father when he was a little boy. He lived on a farm with his mother, father and sister. He attended a one-room schoolhouse and often tells us stories of playing in creeks on his way to and from school and sledding and skiing on hills near his home. The reality was that his family had very little money and had to rely on the land for their living. His parents rented a farm when he was little and inherited the elderly brothers who owned it so his mother had two extra mouths to feed and attend to as well as her own family. This is my entry for this week's Think Monday, Think ATC challenge.

You are right, Heather, and thankfully we are allowed to see the past in a better light.
Love how much of yourself you put into this ATC. One's childhood home is a very special place.

Beautiful tribute to your grandparents and the hard life they had. It appears that they were able to make home a special haven, in spite of lack of material things.

The picture of your father is such a treasure! If only the family values of that time were a little more widespread today! This is a wonderful ATC!

How very sweet Heather and so nostaglique. Thank you for sharing some of our father's story with us :) That snow scene is looking so nice and cool. We're cooking here in VA with temps in the high 90's, feeling like the 100's (38c)

Hi Heather -

I really love this ATC and the story of your Dad as a boy. You are so right about how we look to the past with fondness and often forget that hard times were faced. Thanks for sharing his story and the lovely card - I do love snow!!!
