I took an altered tin course online from Joggles a while back and wanted to give it a try. I began by creating a background using tiny pieces of masking tape torn and burnished to the tin. Luckily a good friend was over while I was doing this. Otherwise I would have been driven crazy. I then used paint over top. The areas where the tape overlapped were darker giving the background depth and texture. This is where the course and I parted ways. Somehow my tin morphed into a scene assemblage with this darling little PaperWhimsy girl with her hand so jauntily on her hip. This piece now lives with a dear art friend in Texas.

You've shown something I think is really important with art -- you started with a course and then allowed your creative spirit to take you where it wanted to go and created something that is all "you" -- and it's absolutely lovely!
Stunning piece - really love it !
I love this little tin Heather. I think each and every little part is more precious then the next. I am sure it was much loved!
sO BEAUTIFUL !!!
Heather what a truly divine tin,and the little girl looks so perfect in it, she is definitely at home there.....
What a precious gift for your TX friend = lucky girl! I just love your tin. What did you use to stick your papers to the tin? I took a beeswax class not so long ago and we only used that, no glues at all. The quote you chose is excellent, everything so special down to your little crowned bluebird = LOVELY!!!
Just had to go back for another look! the German scrap made a perfect frame! What are those little shreds at the bottom? paper perhaps? inquiring minds here :)
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful comments. Patty, to answer your questions, I used crystal lacquer to glue the papers to the pieces of tape that I'd painted. The shreds were sent to me and they are actually shredded play money!!
Heather! This is stunning! All of the elements come together just right!
