I find myself very attracted to these doll images from Retro Cafe Art Gallery. They are created with a wonderful array of unusual items. In this case, this wee gal has an egg for a body! I provided her with a pine cone and a hat of pressed flowers and she is my odd creature for this week's Think Monday, Think ATC challenge.

Mixed Media Monday - Art
I don't know an artist who doesn't have a fascination with colours. I enjoy the freedom of just sifting through my drawers of paint looking for a colour that beckons to me. Who know why I choose the one I do but I find myself excited by its possibilities. What other colours will I selectt to use with it? What mood will I create when I do? Whenever someone asks me what my favourite colour is, I always answer with difficulty. Red seems to come to mind immediately but I feel that I'm almost betraying all of the gorgeous hues and shades that give my life excitement and portray a myriad of emotions in my artwork. Judging from the quotations from artists used on these two journal pages, I'm not alone. This is my entry for this week's Mixed Media Monday challenge.
After a Long Hiatus
I can't believe that it is already nearly October and the date of my last post was mid-June! I told myself that I was only going to take a week or two off. I was just feeling burnt out and bogged down. Two weeks has turned into over three months. Thank you to all of you who have checked in with me to see if I'm okay. I felt missed and in turn I missed all of the wonderful connections that I have made through the blogging world.
Well, I haven't taken a break from art during my hiatus. In fact, I've been exploring the big, wide and marvelous world of art journalling. Do you know that feeling you get when you see an art form that you've never tried before and it just calls to you....a niggling feeling at first that becomes a roar. Well, that's the way it was with me. That and the fact that I wanted to be able to do art each and every day. Art journaling is portable and I'm finding that I just can't wait until lunch at work to dig out my supplies and lose myself in doodling and thinking and writing. It truly is my solace.
I hope all of you have been well and have enjoyed the summer months. I look forward to reconnecting with you.
