Celebrating 10,000 Hits

Okay, I'm a little late in celebrating 10,000 hits on my blog but it's never too late to thank all of my blog visitors for their attention and wonderful comments. I am going to draw names for these two art books so if you are interested please either leave me a comment or personally email me. You are more than welcome to indicate your preference for one or the other. I'll make the draw on New Year's Day.

"Pollage" Lesson on Canvas - "You've Carried Off My Heart"

Awhile ago I was leafing through a Somerset Studio magazine and discovered an article on Patricia DiBona's "Pollage" technique. I was intrigued and looked at it again and again. Shortly thereafter, I was ecstatic to discover that Patricia was teaching the technique online at Joggles. Needless to say, I immediately signed up for the course. I haven't had a chance to study the lessons until recently and this is my first attempt not only at this technique but also at working on canvas. I have a great deal to learn but I'm hooked.

Think Monday, Think ATC - Under the Christmas Tree

Okay, three postings....This is a set of artist trading cards that I created for a swap. All have a Christmas tree or at least a branch so they fit nicely into the "Under the Christmas Tree" theme for the Think Monday, Think ATC challenge this week.

Theme Thursday - ATC with Wings

Pardon the double posting today but I'm getting caught up on my challenges for the week....well, at least a couple of the challenges for the week. Theme Thursday's wonderful theme is "ATC with Wings" and this is mine.

Mixed Media Monday - Christmas

It's Christmas Eve and I'm sure all of you are busy preparing for this evening and tomorrow. This is a card that I designed to send last year and it is my submission for this week's Mixed Media Monday challenge. I must confess that I didn't make any cards to send this year.....shameful I know. I do hope you know how much I appreciate all of your visits to my blog and your wonderful comments. I can't wait to continue to explore art with you in 2008. Happy holidays!

Amazing Christmas Parcel

I received the most amazing parcel this week from my now not-so-secret Santa. It arrived in a huge, heavy box and I thought that I might have the willpower to wait until Christmas Day to open it....NOT! I sat down this morning and opened and opened and opened with amazement. I thought I'd share photos of the contents from the very talented and overwhelmingly generous Suzan Buckner. If you'll notice, one photo is just the fantastic artwork that she sent to me! I am one lucky soul to have a friend like Suzan and I thank her from the bottom of my heart.

"Monday's Child" Tag Book

This was a gift for a very sweet friend of mine. I used a library pocket tag book and the nursery poem "Monday's Child" to create it. The darling images of children are from Lisa's Altered Art.
I just want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you Happy Holidays and all the very best in 2008. I feel honoured to know all of you and your art.

Fluffy Fatbottom's Twisted Tuesday Challenge - Recipes

Ah Christmas....so much to do, so little time....buying and wrapping gifts, trimming the tree, sending cards and, of course, baking. The Twisted Tuesday theme this week is "Recipes" and this is my submission for the challenge. A friend gave me a vintage cookbook and I used it to create this altered board book page. I have been collecting quotations from books that I find particularly inspiring and this quote was about the power of cooking.

A Child's Christmas Microscope Mailer Card

I created this microscope mailer card for David for Christmas using photos from his childhood...sitting on Santa's knee all dressed up like a dapper little man, decked out in the cowboy attire that he just "had to have".

Mixed Media Monday - Words

I love weaving words into my artwork so this week's Mixed Media Monday challenge was a fantastic one for me. I love these two little ones on their sled. Both image and stamp are by Paperbag Studios.

Alpha Challenge - Y and Z

The Alpha Challenge is coming to an end this week with the letters Y and Z....Y is for Yellow and Z is for Zafon (Carlos Ruiz), the writer of the quotation used in this altered book spread.

Think Monday, Think ATC - Alice in Wonderland

The Think Monday, Think ATC theme this week is "Alice in Wonderland" and this gentleman is one of my favourite characters from the classic.

Fluffy Fatbottom's Twisted Tuesday - Naughty or Nice?

The Fluffy Fatbottom Twisted Tuesday theme this week is "Naughty or Nice". Santa is making his list after all. This is a page I created for a calendar swap. This is also my entry for this week's Mixed Media Monday. The theme is "wings".

Mixed Media Monday Challenge - Wings

I'm currently working on pages in a heart-shaped chipboard book. A couple of the vintage folks I've used in it now have wings so they fit perfectly into the theme for this week's Mixed Media Monday challenge.

Pay It Forward

Dawn, Belinda, Jo, Janine,Nat and a number of other talented ladies have posted this on their site recently. Now it is my turn!I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF (Pay it forward) exchange.I'm not sure what that gift will be. It will be a suprise! The only thing you have to do in return is to pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog. So basically, if you’re one of the first 3 comments, I’ll send you something crafty that I’ll make! Once you sign up, I'll email you to let you know that you are one of the three. Then copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog, and three other lucky people will be recipients of your handmade work. Pay it Forward!

Christmas Paperbag Book

I created this paperbag book as a design team project for Altered Pages.
